Heather explained to our membership the difference between offset printing and digital copying.
Offset printing uses ink and water to make the printed image. A digital copier uses powder and heat to fuse the image to the paper. Digital presses are very expensive, so most printers including Integra Print & Image use the digital copier instead.
Currently, digital copying is 60% of the printing business. All printing is still viable, though not at the same volume levels as years ago.
All printing involving variable data is done digitally.
